More than two months after its grand opening celebration Capital City Family Health Center (CCFHC) located at 904 Catalpa St. is seeing a steady wave of new patients.
“We are proud to serve as a centralized source of family practice for residents of Donaldsonville and the surrounding areas,” says the site administrator, Donna Gaignard.
The new 7,000 square facility has been opened since August of this year and has been seeing an average of ten new patients daily.
Gaignard says the clinic has been doing well since it’s opening on August 7, 2012 with many local residents happy to be able to see a podiatrist -or the foot doctor as he is referred to by patients- here in Donaldsonville.
Dr. Marvin Trotter sees patients every Monday and podiatry has been one of our most popular services. She stresses that walk-ins are always welcome. According to Gaignard, the clinic will expand its service delivery soon to include dental services. In the mean time dental patients are being referred to the Baton Rouge site. The clinic currently employs five full time staff and three contract providers. When it is fully operational it will employ more than 15 employees.
The clinic has been well received by the community. CCFHC welcomes private insurance, Medicare, Medicaid and will also see patients that are not insured. There payments are based on a sliding fee scale.
“The ability to accept patients that are uninsured and provide them with quality health care is what sets us apart from many doctor’s offices,” says Gaignard. “We are truly a community healthcare provider vested in the well-being of this community. In addition to providing quality medical care on site, CCFHC operates two school based wellness clinics at Donaldsonville Primary and Donaldsonville High School,” she added.
In addition they see prisoners from Ascension Parish Sheriff’s Office on Fridays. “We are big on community relationships and are always open to finding ways to meet the needs of the citizens of Donaldsonville and surrounding communities,” added Gaignard.
All client care is coordinated with other health care providers such as Donaldsonville Public Health Unit, Prevost Memorial and other hospitals, and specialty physicians to ensure more comprehensive care and to reduce costly duplication.
Page 2 of 2 - Rhonda Litt who is the Chief Executive Officer, says that, “FQHCs are excellent models of care delivery that embody the mission of true health care reform which includes personal responsibility, preventative and primary services, and response to community needs.”
Join CCFCH and its partners on Saturday November 3, 2012 for a health fair on site at 904 Catalpa St.
According to Mayor Leroy Sullivan, “The City of Donaldsonville is happy to have been involved with bringing a healthcare facility with the level of quality affordable service to a community that really needs it during this economic downturn.”
The clinic’s hours of operation are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday thru Friday. To make an appointment you may call 225 264 6800. Walk-ins are welcome!
