  • LEESVILLE – After a tough non-district schedule that included three 5A teams, the Leesville Wampus Cats (0-5-0) enter district 3-4A play at home tonight with a matchup against the Bolton Bears (1-4-0) at 7 p.m. on Wampus Cat Stadium.
Leesville enters week five after being shut out by Washington Marion, 34-0. The Wampus Cats were limited to 36 yards in that game; Charging Indian Melvin Jones rushed for 156 yards, and Marius Rideaux threw for 127 yards and two touchdowns.
Bolton is coming off a 70-28 loss to Iowa last week, a game in which the Bears turned the ball over four times. Quarterback Reggie Williams threw for 269 yards and two touchdowns, and also rushed for 90 yards on 14 carries.
Over the course of five games, Bolton has averaged 23 points per game, but has allowed an average of 42 points per game. Their lone win game against 3A Vidalia (1-4-0) in week four.
Last season, Leesville snapped a five-game losing streak with a 38-20 victory over the Bears, thanks to three rushing touchdowns by Zack Squyres. The Wampus Cats rushed for 242 yards in that game, including 114 yards from Diontay Thurman.
No team in Leesville's district enters 3-4A play with a winning record, but two teams (Peabody and Tioga) enter with 2-3 records. Grant enters with a 1-4 record, and Alexandria has an 0-5 record.
