A teacher at a private school has been arrested on suspicion of calling in a bomb threat at three private schools in Ouachita Parish, according to sheriff's deputies. The News-Star reports (http://tnsne.ws/Ow20xH ) that David Reyna, a 30-year-old Spanish language teacher at River Oaks School, was booked into the Ouachita Correctional Center on Friday after he was arrested by sheriff's office investigators. He's being held without bond pending a court hearing. He was charged with one count of communicating false information of a planned bombing of school property. Prosecutors say Reyna poses a danger to the community, "especially the schools and school system," and is a potential flight risk. River Oaks School Headmaster Tom Middleton said Reyna was a quiet man on campus, giving no indication of a troubled life. "We're just shocked and saddened," Middleton said. He described Reyna, in his first year as an educator, as a "good teacher who knows his subject well." According to court documents, Reyna is accused of calling 911 and relaying information about a shooting and explosion at Ouachita Christian School, River Oaks School and St. Frederick High School shortly after 8 a.m. Monday. The schools were called and evacuated immediately, but no explosives were found. Deputies reported that Reyna admitted he was the suspected caller. The arrest affidavit indicates investigators traced business records associated with the suspect's phone, the number of which was recorded at the time of the 911 call. Records pointed to Reyna, authorities said. Reyna told investigators he had thrown the phone in a trash bin. According to the court documents, he admitted to using illegal drugs, suffers from emotional problems such as depression, does not sleep and is having marital troubles and difficulty with his newborn child. Reyna is married to a former River Oaks teacher. Middleton said Reyna showed no indications that he was having problems in his personal life. Court documents report Reyna was born in Mexico but possesses a U.S. Social Security number.
