  •   A West Coast actor is calling on help from his native stomping grounds for promotional help.
Brian Perry, a California resident, is in a Sprite commercial that is online and could be seen in every American Multi-Cinema movie theater for the entire month of November if the commercial short wins the contest.
“Sprite is doing this competition on six videos that were created by young amateur film makers,” he said. “The one that gets the most votes will win. The one I am in is called “Prom Night” and I play the conservative dad with glasses. It is in third place at the moment.”
Currently Perry is living in Los Angeles, but he said his heart has always belonged to Bastrop.
“I love my acting and I love California,” Perry said. “But my heart has always been in Louisiana. I miss the good Southern food. And I come back every year. I always will have a special place in my heart for Bastrop.”
Perry has been busy working on his acting career since he left Bastrop 22 years ago.
He has starred on T.V. shows Murphy Brown, Just Shoot Me and can often be viewed on the Days of Our Lives as Stephano’s pilot.
Perry graduated from Bastrop High in 1983 and is the son of Eleanor and George Perry.
He said his first acting job was in a Dodge auto commercial while he was attending college in Dallas at Southern Baptist University.
The commercial short is a little over three minutes long. The average commercial length is 30 seconds to one minute.
To view or vote on the commercial starring Perry, go to www.sprite.com and vote for “Prom Night.”
