Brianna Jacobs went 3-for-3 and Jeri Harper drove in three runs as Prairie View cruised to an 8-2 decision over Franklin Academy in its home softball opener Monday afternoon.
Trailing 1-0, the Lady Spartans went ahead to stay with four in the bottom of the second.
Harper singled, Alyssa Montgomery walked and Katie Bryan singled to load the bases with one out. RBI singles by Bailey Ryder and Jacobs gave the Lady Spartans a 2-1 lead and Kristen Oliphant followed with a two-run single.
Franklin closed the deficit to 4-2 in the third, but the Lady Spartans responded with four more in the fourth.
Jacobs singled with one down. One out later, Ericka Guerrero singled and Kaylah Hobbs reached on an error to fill the bases, setting up Harper's two-run double. After Montgomery was intentionally walked for the second time in the game, Hobbs and Harper scored on passed balls.
Ryder went the distance for the win, striking out one without issuing a walk and spacing six hits.
Jacobs led the Lady Spartans' nine-hit production with a double and two singles. Harper doubled and singled and Ryder, Bryan, Guerrero and Oliphant supplied base knocks.
Continuing a three-game homestand, the Lady Spartans (11-1) entertain Tallulah today. Starting times are 3 p.m. for JV and 4 p.m. for varsity.
