BLACK BAYOU — Crappie are fair around the grass on shiners or jigs. Bass are fair on floating worms and lizards fished around the pads. Bream are fair on crickets and worms.
CANEY LAKE — Bass are schooling early mornings with best lures to try being the Pop R and Yellow Magic. Some are also being caught on crank baits and big worms on the deep water humps with some caught on dark spinners and worms at night. Crappie are fair around the deeper tops on shiners or jigs. A good many channel catfish are being caught tight-lining cold worms on the bottom. Chinquapins are fair to good on the 8 foot flats on cold worms.
CHENIERE LAKE — Bass fishing has been fair on Wobbleheads and Rogues. Bream and crappie are fair on Beetle Spins and Road Runners fished next to the cypresses.
LAKE CLAIBORNE — Crappie fishing has been slow but some nice bream are being caught on crickets and worms. Stripers are schooling early mornings but have been a bit hard to catch. Bass fishing has been best early mornings with some in the 6 pound range caught on Baby Brush Hogs. Quite a few channel catfish are being caught fishing liver or blood and cheese bait on the bottom. LAKE D’ARBONNE — Bream and catfish have continued to bite cold worms and red wigglers fished off the banks. Crappie have slowed with smaller fish being caught in some of the deeper sloughs on shiners or jigs. Bass are best early on topwater lures and buzz baits, especially around the grass. OUACHITA RIVER — Shad colored crank baits are picking up some bass in the river and in the bayou. Crappie fishing is fair with better catches made in the bayou drifting jigs. Bream are fair.
LAKE POVERTY POINT — Catfishing is best fishing the area known as the “jungle” using cut shad or cold worms. Bream fishing is fair but bass and crappie are rather slow. For latest reports, call Poverty Point Marina at 318.878.0101.
