  • Rain over the weekend – and more on the way this week – suggest that local growers can breathe a sigh of relief and that last summer's devastating drought will not repeat itself.
     
    Compared to the 2011 drought and heat wave that forced farmers to drain Bayou Bartholomew for irrigation purposes, the National Weather Service is forecasting more normal rainfall and temperatures from here on out.
