Morehouse National completed a clean sweep through the District 5 Pitching Machine Tournament with a 17-6 conquest of West Monroe East on Monday night at Biedenharn Park.
Morehouse, which improved to 10-0 in postseason play, now advances to the State Tournament in Pineville.
Morehouse National posted wins over West Monroe North 10-4, Rayville National 20-9, West Monroe South 19-2, West Monroe East 14-8 and 17-6 in its march to the district championship.
Morehouse 17, West Monroe East 6
Brendan Woods raked three hits as Morehouse upended West Monroe East in the finals.
Seizing control from the outset, Morehouse raced to an early 10-0 lead with four in the top of the first and six in the second.
Woods led Morehouse's 23-hit assault with a triple and two singles. Mason Basinger walloped a home run and a triple, Javari Sanders homered and singled, Quadarrius Scott tripled and singled, Joey Chain, Cade Murphy, Michael Peoples, Kaleb Christmas, Eric Kelly and Mickel Peoples contributed two singles, Alex Maldonado tripled and Zane Morgan singled.
West Monroe totaled 14 hits, led by Aiden Jones with a double and two singles. Tag Pruitt, Blaine Cole and Braxton Kilcrease had two singles, Roman Harper doubled and John Michael Lang, Addison Lewis, Colin Huson and Purvis Lawrence singled.
Morehouse 14, West Monroe East 8
Trailing 3-0, Morehouse exploded for seven in the top of the second and never relinquished the lead en route to besting West Monroe East in the semifinals.
Javari Sanders paced Morehouse's 25-hit attack with a double and two singles. Joey Chain, Cade Murphy and Kaleb Christmas furnished three singles apiece, Alex Maldonado doubled and singled, Michael Peoples, Eric Kelly, Quadarrius Scott, Zane Morgan and Mickel Peoples singled twice and Mason Basinger singled.
Nicholas Woods tripled and singled for the East, Aiden Jones, Roman Harper, Kaiden Wolfe and John Michael Lang added two singles and Tag Pruitt, Matthew Leggett and Addison Lewis singled.
Morehouse 19, West Monroe South 2
Morehouse jumped out to an an 11-1 second inning lead on its way to a decisive quarterfinal victory over West Monroe South.
Javari Sanders was Morehouse's offensive stalwart with a home run, triple and single. Rounding out the 24-hit production were Mason Basinger with a triple, double and single, Brendan Woods with a triple and two singles, Cade Murphy with three singles, Kaleb Christmas with a double and a single, Michael Peoples, Eric Kelly and Mickel Peoples with two singles and Joey Chain, Quadarrius Scott, Zane Morgan and Alex Maldonado with base hits.
West Monroe South received two singles from Kenny Hill, a double from Bryce Gillory and base hits from Tony Frye, Denton Hall, Joe Morris, Lucas Wheelis, Jacob Smith and Brett Wise.
Morehouse 20, Rayville National 9
Javari Sanders and Brendan Woods bopped home runs as Morehouse handled Rayville.
Clinging to a 7-6 lead, Morehouse broke the game open with a seven-spot in the bottom of the third.
Sanders poled a homer, triple and single and Woods shellacked a round tripper, double and single to fuel Morehouse's 22-hit output. Mason Basinger jolted two triples and a single, followed by Cade Murphy with a double and two singles, Quadarrius Scott with a triple and single, Joey Chain with two doubles, Michael Peoples with a double and a single, Eric Kelly and Zane Morgan with two singles, Kaleb Christmas with a double and Mickel Peoples with a base hit.
Todd Garrett doubled and singled for Rayville, Patrick Ellis, John Hales, Joe Dickerson and James Chisholm supplied two singles, Brandon LaCroix doubled and Michael Chavez, Jacob Kirby, Doug Odom and Bill Bickford singled.
Morehouse 10, West Monroe North 4
Up 3-1 after three innings, Morehouse hung four runs on the board in the top of the fourth to pull away from West Monroe North.
Hits were even at 18 apiece, but Morehouse held a 6-0 edge in extra bases.
