  • Kenny Natt named director of basketball program for IMG Academies

  • Kenny Natt has been appointed as director of the basketball program at IMG Academies in Bradenton, Fla.
    Natt, a Bastrop High and ULM graduate, went on to play for the Indiana Pacers, Utah Jazz and Kansas City Kings and several minor league teams, before enjoying a lengthy NBA career as a coach and scout. His resume also includes a stint as the Sacramento Kings' interim head coach during the 2008-09 season.
    Natt has been head coach of India's national team for the past two years and will continue to work with the program in his new position.
    Founded in 1978, IMG?Academies’ boarding school and sports camps attract over 12,000 athletes from 85 countries annually.

    ALL-STAR?TOURNAMENT: Morehouse will host the Dixie Boys 13-year-old District 5 Tournament at Carter Park, Saturday through Thursday.
    Saturday's first-round pairings for the six-team, double elimination bracket include Richland vs. Monroe at 2 p.m., Concordia vs. Franklin at 5 and Caldwell vs. Morehouse at 8.
    Morehouse team members include A.J. Eddins, Kolton Farrar, Cameron Freeze, Micah Hawkins, Jermicahel Hubbard, Jalen Jones, Mackel Logan, Xavier Mansfield and Dalton Montgomery.
    ULM GRAD: Former Prairie View golf standout Heath Hines graduated from ULM with a degree in biology in May. Hines has enrolled in LSU where he will begin pursuing a degree in petroleum engineering in September.
    HOLE-IN-ONE: Bill Brown scored a hole-in-one while playing in the Morehouse Country?Club’s senior scramble Monday.
    Brown aced the 127-yard hole No. 13 using a 7-iron.
    Witnessing the feat were Ken?May, Harold Jacques and?Truman?Saterfiel.
    LOGAN ROAN, the starting second baseman for Bastrop High's softball team the past two seasons, has transferred to West Monroe. Roan will be a junior at the Class 5A school.
    CROSSETT?RODEO: The 64th annual Crossett Pro Rodeo Cowboys Association Rodeo will be held Aug. 8-11, at Cap Gates Arena. Starting time is 8 p.m. all four nights.
    Festivities get under way with the traditional pre-rodeo parade on Saturday, Aug. 4, at 4 p.m.
    Admission to the event is $10 per night for adults, $6 for youth ages 4-11 and free for children ages 3 and under.
