    BLACK BAYOU — Crappie are around the lily pads and are fair on shiners or jigs. Bass are best on soft plastics fished around the grass. Some bream are still being caught on crickets and worms.
    CANEY LAKE —  The bass bite is a bit tough this week. Best chances at catching a good fish will be using Ole Monster plastic worms or DD-22 crank baits around humps and ledges in 12 to 20 foot water. Some are schooling and can be caught on topwater shad imitations when they’re up. Crappie are fair with best catches coming on jigs and shiners fished around the deep tops. Chinquapins are fair on the deeper flats using cold worms.
    CHENIERE LAKE — Bream and crappie are being caught beneath overhanging limbs on the cypresses using Beetle Spins. Bass are fair on topwater lures early and late along with floating worms and Wobbleheads fished around the grass.
     
    LAKE CLAIBORNE — Bass are fair early, late and at night with some in the 5 pound range caught on plastic worms and topwater lures. Catfishing is good on trotlines using a variety of baits. Some flatheads to 30 pounds have been caught when live bream are used for bait on trotlines. Crappie are slow to fair around the deeper tops.     LAKE D’ARBONNE — Bream and catfish continue to be good fishing worms or crickets off the banks and on the shallow flats. Crappie are in the sloughs and are best fishing jigs or shiners 8-12 feet deep in 15-20 foot water. Drifting spider rigs in the stump fields has also paid off some. Bass are best around grass up the creeks on topwaters and buzz baits. For latest information, call Anderson’s Sport Center at 318.368.9669.
    OUACHITA RIVER — Crappie fishing is best fishing the bayou in the middle of the channel spider rigging jigs. Bass are better in the river around slough mouths on crank baits, finesse worms and Carolina rigs. Bream are fair.
    LAKE POVERTY POINT — Bass fishing has improved with an 8.4 pounder caught. Best baits are soft plastics. Crappie fishing is slow while bream are fair to good. Catfishing continues to be good all over the lake fishing cut shad or night crawlers. For latest reports, call Poverty Point Marina at 318.878.0101.
    LAKE ST. JOHN — Bass fishing has been fair to good fishing crank baits around the trees. Bream are improving, catfishing is good while crappie are slow. Call Doug Miller or Ken Mahoney at Lake St. John Grocery (318.757.0013) for latest reports and fishing conditions.
