All senior citizens in the Sterlington area are invited to come play Bingo and enjoy a healthy lunch every Monday thru Friday at the East Ouachita Recreational District.
EORD center worker, Susan Anthony, said that Bingo starts at 10:30 a.m. and lunch is served around 11:30 a.m.
“It is free for seniors, but we do accept donations,” she said. “It is a place for seniors to come enjoy themselves and eat a balanced lunch, because there is a nutritionist who helps plan the meals.”
She said on average there are about 15 seniors who come each day, but wishes there were more.
“All seniors are welcomed to come play Bingo and eat,” she said. “The Bingo winners get small prizes like snacks and gifts. It is a lot of fun.”
Brenda Ward has been coming to the EORD with her husband for three years now and said they always have a good time.
"My husband and I enjoy playing Bingo," she said. "We also do other fun activities here, like dress up for Halloween and celebrate the holidays."
The site manager, Jane McDonald, said she would love more people to come out.
"It is a place for seniors to get out, socialize and have a good time," she said. "And after Bingo we all eat a healthy meal together."
