  • Republic Finance wins pair

    Republic Finance 3, RYK&L 2
    Cooper Stephenson went the distance on the mound and Brock Jenkins jabbed two hits as Republic Finance trimmed Rankin, Yeldell, Katz & Lowery 3-2 in Dixie Youth Baseball.
    After the Dawgs broke through for two in the top of the first, Kenton Norman turned an unassisted double play in the bottom of the frame to keep the Attorneys scoreless. Republic stretched its lead to 3-0 in the third, before RYK&L cut the deficit to 3-2 in the home half of the inning.
     
    Stephenson struck out six, walked two and held the Attorneys to three hits.
    Jenkins accounted for both of the Dawgs' hits with a pair of singles. Kenyon Beasley knocked an inside-the-park home run, Dylan Gandy tripled and Jamarco Edmonds singled for the Attorneys (3-8).
    Jamarco Edmonds took the loss for the Attorneys with Micah Young and Beasley in relief.
    Winning for the fifth time in their last seven games, the Dawgs improved to 5-6 after an 0-4 start.
    Republic Finance 7, Optimist 3
    Trailing 3-2 entering the bottom of the fourth and final inning, Republic Finance erupted for five runs to card a 7-3 Dixie Youth Baseball victory over Optimist.
    Optimist scored twice in the top of the first, before breaking a 2-2 tie with a run in the top of the fourth.
    Kenton Norman, who worked the fourth, was credited with the win for the Dawgs (4-5). Republic starter Cooper Stephenson punched out eight and walked two through three innings.
    Dylan Strange doubled and singled as the Dawgs out-hit the O's 5-2. Miller Stutts supplied two singles and Norman doubled. Dorian Eddins was a bright spot offensively for Optimist (5-4) with a triple and single.
    Beau Cannon Pruitt was charged with the setback in relief of Bryce Wallace.
