Three seniors from Prairie View Academy have qualified for the Louisiana High School State Finals Rodeo which began Tuesday and runs through Friday in Lake Charles.

Cody Smith finished second in the Louisiana High School Rodeo Association bareback standings, while Colton Boseman and Caleb Parrott placed 15th in team roping to qualify for the state event. The state finals will consists of two go round and a final go round on Saturday.

The top four in this week's competition advance to the 64th annual National High School Finals Rodeo, scheduled for July 14-21 in Rock Springs, Wyo.

Smith was the reserve champion (second place) in last year's LHSRA event and finished 32nd out of 218 contestants at last year's NHSFRA rodeo in Gillette, Wyo.

Attracting cowboys and cowgirls from all 50 states and numerous foreign countries, the NHSFRA event is the world's largest rodeo.
