Some people play golf for years without scoring a hole-in-one. J.P. Hattaway, who took up the sport only a year and a half ago, is the envy of his golfing buddies after accomplishing the feat twice during an 11-month span.

Using a 9 iron, Hattaway aced the 145-yard, par-3 hole No. 8 at Muny in Monroe on May 17.
Witnesses were Justin Waller, Chris Andrews and Rob Justus.

Hattaway recorded his first hole-in-one on June 26 at the Morehouse Country Club with a pitching wedge on the 125-yard 13th hole.

Tyler Haynes, Brendan Tubbs, Leo Vyvial and Jake Andrews witnessed Hattaway's ace on the local course.

A former Prairie View athlete, Hattaway now attends ULM where he is majoring in criminal justice.

PRO TRYOUT: Former Bastrop High and Arkansas-Monticello shortstop Jennifer Hickman will attend a tryout with the defending National Pro Fastpitch champion Chicago Bandits on Saturday.

Hickman, who graduated summa cum laude in May, hit .323 with six home runs, 13 doubles, two triples, 25 RBIs and nine stolen bases in nine attempts while helping the Blossoms to the Great American Conference regular season and postseason tournament titles during the recently-completed season.

2013 DRAFT: Two former Delta Mustangs/Bastrop Rams teammates could have their names called in next year's NFL draft.

Defensive tackles Josh Downs of LSU and D.D. Jones of Arkansas are ranked No. 9 and 18, respectively, out of 167 defensive tackle prospects. Both are entering their senior seasons.

Downs (6-1, 287) moved into the starting defensive tackle spot vacated by Michael Brockers in the spring.

Jones (6-4, 300) is coming off perhaps the best game of his career in the Razorbacks' 29-16 Cotton Bowl victory over Kansas State.
