Hayden Jennings of state semifinalist Evangel is the Outstanding Player and Matt White of Riverside is the Coach of the Year on the Class 2A All-State baseball team as selected by the Louisiana Sports Writers Association.

Jennings, a senior outfielder and LSU signee, registered a .439 batting average, with 12 home runs and 31 RBIs. Batting from the leadoff slot, he was a perfect 23-for-23 in stolen bases. Additionally, he had a perfect 0.00 earned run average in three starts on the mound.

White directed Riverside to a 25-10 record, which included a 3-1 loss to Calvary Baptist in the state championship game.

Calvary, which rebounded from a 1-8 start to win its third state title, is the only school to place three players on the first team. The Cavaliers are represented by senior pitcher Ryan Leone (5-1), junior utility man Garrett Williams (4-5, 1.95 ERA) and junior catcher Weston Steelhammer (.337, 23 RBIs).

Casey Sutton of Sterlington is a honorable mention honoree. The junior righthander was 6-5 with a 1.25 earned run average.
