The residents of Log Cabin and the Beekman area have a new store to look forward to.
Concrete was poured Wednesday for a new Dollar General Store, which will be located at 11740 Crossett Road. The store will have 9,100 total square feet and employ approximately six to 10 people, depending on need.

The store will feature a layout that makes shopping simpler for customers. Some of its highlights include: convenient cash register locations away from the entryway, seasonal products featured in the center of the store, coolers at the front of the store and more visible department signage.
The new Dollar General will offer customers the brands and products they use most in a small, easy-to-shop store. Dollar General sells quality name-brand and private label merchandise such as health and beauty products, cleaning supplies, housewares, stationery, seasonal goods, basic clothing, packaged food products, refrigerated foods like dairy products and lunch meat and frozen food.  The majority of their products are priced at $10 or less, with approximately 25 percent of the products priced at $1 or less.

The new store will be the second Dollar General in Bastrop. Dollar General has 339 stores in Louisiana.

In addition to being a convenient place to shop, Dollar General is deeply committed to the communities they call home. They are an ardent supporter of literacy and education, which they believe is an important step towards a better life. At the cash register of every Dollar General store, customers interested in learning how to read, speak English or get their GED can pick up a brochure with a postage-paid reply card that they can mail in for referral to a local organization that offers free literacy services.

Dollar General also gives back through grants to community organizations.  More information about the Dollar General Literacy Foundation and its grant programs is available at
