As I sat in the Tinseltown Theater in Monroe, intensely watching the epic film ‘Selma’ with my two children, tears flowing from our faces, hearts pounding syncopated beats of solidarity and sorrow, I was moved to reflect on just some of the horrific events that have happened to my people in America; as they fought for essential human rights, justice, equity and the right to vote without ANY obstacles, restrictions or reservations.
